COT QUILT FOR BABY CARNELL...................

This quilt has been made for the
a son and daughter-in-law of one
of my cousins.

Michael and Stephanie are eagerly
waiting the arrival of their first child.

Stephanie contacted me through my
facebook page (Marion Prime Designs)
and asked me if I could make a quilt
for their baby's cot.

She told me what colours she would
like, and a bit of an idea on what design
she would like, and this is what I cam up with.

Some of the fabrics were bought in Newcastle
where Stephanie and Michael live, and some were
bought at Gumvalley Patchwork in Simpson, and
some came out of my stash.

I looks lovely on the white cot with the wall art
in the background.

Looking forward to hearing of the arrival of
Baby Carnell.

I will be making this quilt again in another colourway,
and writing the pattern, so stay tuned for more details.

CONVICT BONNET ............................

Back in June I was hearing a little about a
"Blessing Of The Bonnets" here in Colac,
but at the time life was a bit busy, so I
didn't pay enough attention.

When I did have time to listen and discover
what it was all about, I decided I would make
a convict bonnet in memory of my
Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandmother
MARY WADE.

Mary was born on the 5th October 177
and died on the 17th December 1859
at the age of 82.

At the time of her death, she had
300 descendants.

Mary was convicted for steeling three items of
clothing at the age of 11, and was sentenced to
death by hanging.  Fortunately, she escaped this
dreadful punishment, and was transported to
Australia on the
'LADY JULIANA"

My Convict Bonnet will be going to the
collection of Bonnets in Hobart.
"ROSES FROM THE HEART'
where they are attempting to collect a
bonnet for every female convict that came
to Australia.

Chilly Mornings..........................

We had a couple of very cold mornings this week.

We didn't get any snow like a lot of other places
not all that far from us.

There was snow in Lorne, Ballarat and even the
outskirts of Geelong and all of these places are
within an hours drive from us.

But it was cold enough with frost, let alone snow.

I LOVE WEDDINGS.......................

Especially when I have made the wedding dress...................

Our beautiful niece Ria was married in Dickinson's Reserve
in Kew at the beginning of April.

Ria contacted me at the end of January to ask me if I could
make her wedding dress.  As Ria lives in Melbourne and I
live 2 hours south of Melbourne, we decided to meed in
Geelong and have a chat and a look for a pattern.
Then it was off to the ladies bathroom in
Market Place to do the measurements.

We both went back to our own homes, Ria then going shopping for
fabric and me going to buy some poly cotton to make up a
dummy dress.  Four weeks later we met in Geelong again
for the fitting.
And guess where that was.................back in the Ladies Bathroom in
Market Place.  It has the best mirror ever for a dress fitting.

Just a small adjustment to be made, and home I came with the beautiful
Italian Lace that Ria had chosen and a month later, Ria was coming down
this way for another family wedding and she called for me to get the hem
organised.  The next day she came and picked up the dress and took it home.

Two weeks later it was a pleasure to see her walk down the garden
path on her Dad's arm to be given way to marry her
 handsome now husband -- Crispin.

This photo is of there own little family, Ria, Crispin and there oh so cute
Olive Elizabeth.

Not much of a sunset again last night,
but apparently it is only 3 degrees outside this morning,
I think that is the coldest morning this year.

But it is shaping up to be a lovely sunny day,
first one for a while.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME...........................

I didn't realise that it had been such a long time since I had done a post.
Last night I had an e-mail from Barb Smith, who used to be "The Woodcutters Daughter".
I used to buy lots from Barb, and whilst she was looking for something on the net she came
across my blog.  So, Barb, thanks for giving me the push to get back on here and do some
blogging.

Over the next little bit I will show you some of the things that I have been up to.
Today, I will show you the latest project that will be going off to
Creating Country Threads............

"COBBLESTONE AVENUE"

By the way, it was a beautiful sunset last night...............

BUSY TIMES................................

Well, it is happening again, the Colac Quilters Exhibition
is coming up and will be on at St. Andrew's Hall
from the 22nd March through till the 24th March.

I am doing my usual trick of
"Nothing Gets Done Until The Last Minute".

I am getting some cards organised to have there,
I will have my patterns for sale, I will probably have
some pre-loved stamp sets that are in good condition,
and hopefully I will have some other goodies as well.

I will also be promoting my wedding invitations and
those cute little bags.

But last night I took a little  time out
and went for a walk.

The sunset was just beautiful.
You don't notice that you are walking
so far when you have something as beautiful
as this to look at.

LOTS OF STITCHING

Well, with the new year, I have been busy getting some
class samples together.  Mind you, none of them are
finished yet.

Firstly, I am working on two different Stack and Slash
Quilts using a Layer Cake.  They will both be finished
off differently, if what I have in my head will work.
And a bonus, I am using up Layer Cakes that I have
had sitting in my pre-cuts container.

Secondly.............

We are going to do a Sampler "Quilt-A-Long"
this year.  Not sure if it is going to be
12 or 16 blocks yet.

But, you would have the choice, you could stop
at 12 if you so desired.

This is Block One..............................

This is Block Two

You can join in the "Quilt-A-Long" fun from where
ever you are...................................

Just e-mail me at mazzieatbeeac@gmail.com
and I will let you know full details.

GIFT TAGS AND CARDS............................

Tanya at Sassy T. gave me some wallpaper samples
and asked me if I could make up some tags and
cards for her in Neutral shades......................

This is what I cam up with..................................

Bit special I think.

Wedding Invitations..........................................

I am quite enjoying making some Wedding Invitations.................

Weddings are such happy occasions, and it is so nice
to work with happy people..................................

I was asked to do some samples for a Wedding which is
going to be next month.

So I set to work, and this is what I presented.......................

After a few days the Bride and Groom decided on what they
wanted, so I set off to work.  The first step was to make
these hearts...................................

Once I had them all done for them, I packaged them up
and delivered them.........................................

I am happy to work with you if you would like me to prepare
a sample package for invitations for your special occasion, weather
it be wedding, birthday, christening, whatever..........................
