This is a bit exciting. After 2 1/2 years, this quilt is almost finished. I now only have the binding to stitch down, and the pattern will be ready.
This quilt is called "Forty Plus Ten" because I designed it for my sister Dianne's 50th Birthday, which was in August 2007. There are Forty squares in the quilt and of course to get 50, you have to Plus 10. Dianne got her quilt (top) for her birthday, then I had to bring it home with me and get it quilted. I then made a quilt (top) for myself so I could do the pattern, and it just got a little lost on the way, and had a little holiday in the cupboard. When I went to the "Stitching in the Mountains" weekend, I took it on another little holiday with me and started the quilting. I said on that weekend that it would be finished by the time Dianne turns 53, and I will have it finished by the end of this weekend, all being well. Her birthday is still a month away.
The quilt uses a promo pack of pre-cut 5" squares, or you could just put together you own collection of charm squares. You could also purchase enough fabric to do the squares and the border in all the same fabric, which would look rather nice too. Lots of options, and lots of fun.
